States of India

India is a federal union government consisting 28 states and 9 union territories. All the states, as well as union territories of Puducherry and the National Capital new Delhi, have elected government and lead by a Chief minister. The remaining five union territories are directly ruled by the central Government through appointed governor.

Each states of India or union territories of India are further divided into districts governed by district administrator. The districts are further divided into tehsils, panchayats and ultimately villages.
