Critics Rating

Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior is a Bollywood biographical period action movie starring Ajay Devgn, Saif Ali Khan, Kajol and Directed by Om Raut. The movie is based on the life of Tanaji Malusare, the military leader of Shivaji, and the Maratha Empire.

The movie is about the life of the Maratha warrior, Tanhaji Malusare, who was the military leader of Maratha Empire and a closest aid of Chhatrapati Shivaji Mahara. The film focuses on the famous Battle of Sinhagad, Tanhaji (Ajay Devgn) take on Udaybhan (Saif Ali Khan), a Rajput who fought on behave of Aurangzeb against the Marathas.

Being one of the most anticipated movie of 2020 and one of the first big movie of the year, Ajay Devgn’s Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior releasing on 10th January 2020. The movie is obviously special as 100th movie of Ajay Devgn and reuniting Ajay and Kajol after nine long years.

As story tells, the movie starts with Maratha’s cry for autonomy from the Mughal Empire, strategic re-capture of the Kondana Fort, also known as Sinhagad Fort.

Although this is a biopic, it is filled with stunning actions, impressive visuals and grand larger than life moments.

Ajay Devgn justifies his role as a loyal and passionate Maratha warrior with great action performance and dialogue delivery. While Kajol shines in her role despite of less screen time, who plays the character of Savitri Bai (Wife of Tanhaji).

The character who shines as a villain is none other than Saif ali Khan, who plays Uday Bhan Rathore (A Rajpoot Fighting for Mugal Aurangzeb). Sharad Kelkar plays Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj like a charm and well delivered.

While Om Raut, has very less experience as a director and being his debut Hindi movie, he delivered his best considering he only directed a Marathi movie earlier. Screen play is decent and some of the action scene could have been better, but CGI is very good in this biopic movie.

Final Verdict

Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior is a epic biopic adventure movie with very good CGI with a large set and good story telling. Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior is a must watch for every movie lover.
